Where Have You Been?

“Where have you been, young man?” A phrase many of us fellas have probably heard in a lifetime. I have not posted in quite a while for various reasons (any of which I’m not sure is a good reason).

If you have followed my blog, then you know that I haven’t posted since slightly before the end of the last school year. Things got busy as they often do with teachers at the close of a school year.

In fact, it was so hectic that I actually thought I had already posted on my blog the good news, but as I was preparing to post this, I couldn’t find anywhere I had said:

MY WIFE AND I ARE EXPECTING!

I apologize for not posting anything sooner. I sincerely thought I already had, but perhaps, I only did so on social media.

I thought my wife was supposed to be the one with “pregnancy brain.”

Nonetheless, my family had places where we needed to go this summer. We had baby doctor visits, and we even had a bit of a scare when we were referred to a specialist. In short, our doctor noticed a heart arrhythmia, but thankfully, the specialist saw no signs of heart problems. So, our baby girl is doing great and should make her arrival near the end of the year.

Yes, that’s right, this daddy is getting a baby girl.

All of these reasons are part of my absence, but another part is I have sincerely questioned whether it was worth continuing my blog at all.

What’s The Purpose

This started as my hope to be informational, and at times, a humorous place for educators to find good resources. I likely haven’t lived up to those pursuits, but instead, I felt I became a male voice for couples going through infertility.

This is a worthy enough reason; however, I’m uncertain I offer much of value.

It’s a tremendously emotional journey. It’s a roller coaster. But thus far, my wife and I have had a very positive experience on this roller coaster. On our first attempt, my wife became pregnant with our little girl.

That leaves me feeling blessed. But, I’m also aware that many couples have a much longer, much harder journey. Some are never successful, and for that, I can’t begin to describe in words. There is nothing likely that I could say in person or on here that could comfort someone going through that.

Deciding My Blogging Future

Therefore, I’m writing this blog to say I’m still here. I’m excited for a new school year. I’m excited for my little girl to come into the world. But, I’m not sure what will happen next in my blogging career.
