Caught with Pants Down: Where’s the TP?

Every good classroom management plan has procedures for going to the restroom. There is no ONE answer. Whatever the procedure, it has to work for your classroom, school, and teaching personality.

With all of that being said, sometimes you just have to “wing it.”

A former colleague sent this funny story for each of you to enjoy.

Little Susie raised her hand and asked if she could go to restroom, that “it was an emergency.”

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that.

My former colleague uses bathroom passes in her classroom management procedures. She informed the student it was still going to cost her a restroom pass.

After turning in the pass, Little Susie returned to the classroom a few minutes later.

She calls the teacher back over and whispers to her that “she had to go number two.”

Well, thanks for that info!

Turns out, Little Susie wasn’t just trying to inform her teacher of her bodily functions. She wanted to tell her that the stall she was using was out of toilet paper, but she had not noticed in time.

So she informs her teacher that she listened carefully to see if anyone was in the restroom with her. Then, with her pants down, she scurried to the second stall.

Unfortunately, that stall was “overflowing” and had no toilet paper either. Then, she ran to the next one, pants still down, to get toilet paper.

Little Susie said, “My heart was POUNDING, but I finally got to wipe!”
