Where Have I Been?
Long time, no see. I have meant to post something for so long and then always found an excuse not to put the effort into it.
I had zero plans to be public about this, but as time went on, so many people have asked or received hints that something was going on that my wife and I have decided to be open about efforts to have our second child.
The Secret Lives of Teachers…Again
A few months ago, we began meeting with the same fertility specialists we used on our first IVF attempt. After a lot of discussions and prayers, we decided to start the process again.
Despite going through this once, nothing about the process is easy. We are simply more knowledgeable this time around.
My wife has been such a trooper. Despite her fear of needles, she has handled it all so well.
The process isn’t as long this time, but it sure has seemed that the medication has made my wife “sicker” this time. (I’ll save you from the nasty details.) That could be because enough time has gone by that the present always feels a little worse than what we’ve gone through, or it may actually be worse. I don’t know.
She is so ready to be a mommy again that she has easily powered through though. She enjoyed being pregnant. On many occasions, she talks about missing being able to hold her hands around her belly cradling her unborn child. So, she is really looking forward to carrying another baby.
Fast forward a little and we reach today…a Friday in late September.
The Secret Is Out
To be quite honest, I’m a private person and didn’t want to share the information out of sheer emotional protection. However, many have found out anyway. With that being said, today is an exciting day…
It is TRANSFER DAY!
This morning, my wife and I traveled to our fertility clinic and had one of our very few remaining embryos implanted.
We are blessed with fantastic doctors, nurses, family, and friends who have all showered us with positivity and prayers.
My wife and I have been so excited today despite the chaotic morning just to get to the clinic. Once there though, the doctors and nurses made it such an easy process and had nothing but positive things to say.
What Now?
My wife is doing well and will be on limited bed rest for the duration of the weekend, and for those curious, we will not know the results for nearly two weeks.
We asked for continued prayers, positivity, and understanding during the next few weeks as we anxiously await news.
