I wonder how many people go to work to hear about constipation and the words “I can’t get it out.” Doctors? Nurses? Maybe p
Ever heard the saying, “Kids say the darndest things?” Teaching is a profession where I’m seldom surprised but there rarely is a dull moment. Thus, today begins my “Story Time” series.
Story Time
In the field of education, we educators tend to hear some of the funniest things or experience the strangest moments with our students.
I have a student in first grade who has an extreme dry sense of humor! Think Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. The story begins with him not feeling well, so he asked if he could go to the restroom because he felt “constipated.”
“Constipated” – This word from my first grader. You have to love his growing vocabulary. Of course, I let him go to the restroom.
Several minutes later, he came back to the room distressed because he “could not get it out.” But by this time, it was time for lunch. I told him to go to lunch and try to eat, hopefully, to help push everything out.
If At First You Don’t Succeed…
After lunch, he asked to go back to the restroom.
Several minutes later, I sent another student to the restroom to check on him because he had been in there for so long. Soon after, the student I sent came back saying that Little Johnny was washing his hands.
Little Johnny finally made it back to the room, so I asked if he felt better to which he replied, “Yes, I didn’t think I would have enough toilet paper to clean myself!”
Oh, the things kids say!

That’s funny. Things don’t surprise me on what kids will say.
